Foodbank Basics - Update

Foodbank continues to be busy. We have been helping a few families to cope with these difficult times. We miss our café for the personal touch we used to offer, but our drivers are very good at having a word with our clients as they deliver the shopping.

We are experimenting with using frozen meals as an alternative to tins all the time. This seems to be going down well. Every week, our clients receive bread from The Community Bakery, fresh fruit and vegetables from The Community Carrot and fresh meat from Whitecross Butchers. We are looking to move over to a voucher system for these outlets as that would give our clients more choice as to what they buy. Sunny Soups provide us with home-made soup in small tubs. These are frozen and given out weekly.

With regards to Christmas, we would appreciate donations of Tinned Salmon, Tinned Ham, Christmas biscuits and sweets. However, PLEASE NO SELECTION BOXES! We already have more than enough! Each recent and current client will also receive a Christmas Hamper, so a small gift to be added to them would be much appreciated. If you are finding it hard to decide, gift vouchers are also acceptable as a way of giving to us. There is always someone in the Parish Church Hall between 10.30 -12 noon, Monday to Friday should it be easier for you to hand donations in during those hours.

We are also in need of donations of Gent's toiletries, crisps and cartons of fresh juice.

We are extremely grateful for the wonderful team of volunteers we have come to rely on to keep us going. We now have a reserve list of folks wishing to help.

We are continuing to provide a Christmas Day lunch to those in need on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, we cannot get together in the Hall but in conjunction with The Ridge and Dunbar Rotary, we expect to deliver quite a few ready-cooked meals around the town.

Our sincere thanks to you all for the wonderful donations we continue to receive week by week. You all know who you are. We feel blessed to live in such a caring community.

Many blessings to you all,
